Google Workspace
Google Workspace is the communication backbone for a lot of home service businesses. Gmail handles inbound inquiries, estimates follow-ups, and client correspondence. Most contractors who are already running on Google Workspace have years of client history, active threads, and a team that lives in Gmail. PillarDrive connects to it so your CRM and your email are never out of sync.
What you can do
PillarDrive supports two integration points with Google Workspace: Gmail as an SMTP provider and two-way Gmail email sync.
When you connect Gmail as your SMTP provider, emails sent from PillarDrive go out through your actual Gmail or Google Workspace mailbox. Your clients see your real business email address in the from field, not a generic platform address. This keeps your outbound communication professional and on-brand.
The two-way Gmail sync goes further. Once connected, email threads initiated from PillarDrive sync back to Gmail automatically. Any reply the homeowner sends to your Gmail comes back into the PillarDrive Conversations inbox. Both sides stay current. Your team can work from either platform and the conversation history is accurate in both places. The sync activates on the first outbound message from the CRM and applies to all replies in that thread going forward.
Google Calendar also connects through the Google integration, giving you a two-way appointment sync between PillarDrive's booking system and your team's calendars. Note that Google enforces a daily sending limit of 500 emails per mailbox on Gmail connections.
Why it matters
The biggest problem with running email through Google Workspace alone is that nothing is automated. Leads still need a person to write the first reply. Follow-ups still need a person to remember to send them. PillarDrive handles the automation while your team keeps working inside the tools they already know.
Getting set up
